Plot
In a slightly fictionalized version of New York City, there is one night each year when single people are allowed to have sex. For most of the city, it is an opportunity for a commitment-free encounter. Recently dumped Owen and hopeful romantic Allie, however, appear to be among the few people searching for something more meaningful.
When the two strangers unexpectedly meet, the chemistry between them is immediate. But a succession of misunderstandings, bad timing and unexpected side adventures repeatedly pulls them apart, sending them racing across the city toward and away from each other. As the night unfolds, they may discover that the connection they have been searching for is much closer than either of them imagined.
Will Gluck's One Night Only is a contemporary romantic comedy about dating, loneliness and the search for genuine intimacy in a world increasingly built around fleeting encounters.
