Plot
In 1945, shortly after the end of the Second World War, Grace Stewart lives in isolation with her two young children in a grand mansion on the island of Jersey. The children suffer from an extreme sensitivity to sunlight, forcing the family to live in darkness behind heavy curtains and follow strict rules about keeping doors locked.
When three new servants arrive at the house, unexplained noises, mysterious presences and disturbing events begin to disrupt their lives. Convinced that unknown intruders have entered the mansion, Grace desperately attempts to protect her children. Alejandro Amenábar creates an atmospheric gothic thriller in which fear emerges from silence, darkness and uncertainty.
